Chinese Deliciousness

My cold is gone! I gave it to Kyle! Oops, sorry Kyle...

I'm just going to talk about my weekend since it only seems the most exciting things that happen always happens on a weekend.

Saturday Kyle and I went to discover the Asian Market in Provo. It was one of the most beautiful things I'd ever seen. I love going into those sorts of stores just because it's always such an adventure. New food, new smells, and I get in the mood to cook new stuff. Every time we go to an Asian grocery store, I wish that Kyle would take an internship for a year or so in China so I could learn the language, cook awesome food, experience new culture, and see amazing things.

We went to the Asian market primarily to get some ingredients for our Sunday dinner with our cousins. We planned a Chinese night, and we had a ton of fun preparing for it. While we were in Texas last, Kyle made them a meal he learned while on his mission, and I loved it so much I wanted to make it again for his cousins. It turned out to be a huge success. We made dumplings, bok choy, and egg drop soup. Every one else brought fried rice and egg rolls, though Kyle tells me that egg rolls are Japanese, and yet everyone seems to think they are a Chinese cuisine. Admittedly, I'd always thought they were Chinese, but I suppose that's what comes of being an ignorant American, haha.

So it was fun and delicious. They got to telling so many stories of their missions. I love listening to people talk about their missions because it sounds so fun and exciting. Kyle told a story of how he went to a member's house and he took shot glasses of noodles. Now this family was from Cheng Du, a province in China notorious for their spicy food. Unfortunately, Kyle didn't know this tidbit at the time, so he downed his cup of noodles and promptly lit on fire. The noodles were so hot, he face went numb.

So yeah, food. The best thing about it, though is the leftovers, yum. I get to have dumplings whenever I want! MWAHAHAHAHA! Until it disappears, at least...

This is essentially what our food looked like. View, and be hungry!
