About a month ago or so, I filled out an application online for a local credit union. I wasn't expecting anything of it because you rarely get an interview from online applications. I was mostly filling in my quota of job applications for the day because I couldn't find anything in my field. But last week, I got a call from this lady asking me for an interview, and of course I went. She seemed so pleased by me, but afterwards, I wasn't feeling too confident because of how terribly my last interview went. I expected to be turned down, but two days later, she called and offered me the job!
I'm a teller, people! I get to give people money!
It's a lot harder than I expected. There's a lot of stuff to remember, and this past week, I've been cramming my head full of accounts and transfers and how to fill out cashier's checks and other such things. Also, I believe that once I get situated and trained in my position, I'll eventually have to be cross-trained in loans and mortgages and other positions so that I could answer customer questions to their satisfaction. I've also learned what to do in case of robbery, and I really, really hope that I never do get robbed, because I does not sound like much fun. I'll also have to learn how to spot kiting and how to flag suspicious activity, but at the moment, it just sounds so crazy and confusing. I feel like once I stop reading and studying and start working and applying the manual, I'll be able to figure it all out.
Today, we learned how to make transfers on the computer using their dummy system. Basically, we worked with real accounts, but the "money" we transferred and worked with was not real. I got into my account and transferred $1,000,000,000 in. Man, but it sure looked and felt good to see that! One day... one day we'll have money...
By the way, UCCU is a fantastic place to work at. There are so many benefits, whether or not you are part-time or full-time. Also, they treat you like gold. They bought me lunch these past two days and encourage us to just have fun. I think that my back-to-work jitters (kind of like the back-to-school jitters) lasted all of ten minutes before the teller trainer broke the ice and got us to feel relaxed and happy. They also have these candy bowls in the training classroom, and I'm certain that I've eaten so much that I've gained back all the weight I may have been losing on Kyle's and my daily walks each night.
I'm so happy to be working, though. It's so nice to have something productive to look forward to, because simply filling out job applications and doing little crafts here and there is just not fulfilling enough. I'm also looking forward to when we have kids, because I feel like UCCU would be super accommodating to those who want to work but can't do so full time.
Also, we planted a garden!
It's been a week and a day by now, and we already have little sprouts poking up! Ten radishes, eight beans, four zucchinis, and two (we think) cucumbers. We also have four tomatoes and a lettuce. We were a little worried that the seeds wouldn't come up because of how late we planted, not to mention the temperatures have been in the 90s all week, but so far, it's looking great!
Also, my ward thinks I'm married to Brandon. Don't know why, but in an email, they called him "Brandon." What does that make me?

Sounds wonderful. I'm glad you are so happy!
That sounds fun! Hard, but fun!
Do I see some marigolds?
Are you all in the Provo Peak 5th ward? If so, then maybe they saw your maiden name and assumed you all were us moved back? I don't know, that's weird.
