Job interviews and flowers and happy things

Wow, has it really be two weeks? It feels like I just updated yesterday!

Well, orchestra is finished! I got everything in and done, the kids are happy, and I'm really hoping I get this job next year! The thing is, I'm hired on a year-to-year basis, and I have to be evaluated by my principals, and if they find my job performance satisfactory, they recommend me for next year. Problem is, I could not get a hold of one of my principals. I always have trouble contacting this one school, and I'm really worried that because of it, I won't be able to get this job for next year. Cross your fingers!

Speaking of jobs, I applied to a substitute teaching/preschool teaching position, and they asked me in for an interview. I went in for it, and they were so welcoming and warm towards me, I felt like I would be hired because of the reception I got from them. Not to mention, they called me up for a follow-up interview, teaching a thirty minute lesson for some preschoolers. I did it, it went great, and they liked me plenty. After my "trial teaching," they told me that unfortunately, they weren't hiring at the moment, but they would keep my application on file, and if they had an opening, they would contact me again. Sadness. I have a feeling that if I had more experience, then they would have hired me because they explained to me that they were swamped with training other new people. Still, I wish they hadn't led me on as if they were on their way to hiring me...

Today, we stopped by our new apartment to clean it before we moved in. You wouldn't believe how filthy it was. The previous tenant hadn't done a good job getting it cleaned up. It looks a ton better, and we're hoping that our landlord gets a carpet cleaner before all our furniture moves in.

But while we were there, we planted our first flower! My principal (the one I see frequently because she's not a hermit) gave me a farewell/thank you gift of dianthus, and it was suffering so badly in our basement that we transplanted it up in Provo in a nice, sunny spot. I bet it's a lot happier, now!

Also, we went shopping today, and we bought tons of seeds! Chives, oregano, basil, beans, peppers, and squash. We almost got lettuce, but for some reason, the brand we chose was on recall, and the cashier couldn't sell it to us. We'll get it some other time when we get nursery tomatoes (as it is a little too late to plant them from seeds).

Last of all, we discovered a new television series that we love, called The IT Crowd. The first season is fantastic, as are a few other episodes afterwards. The biggest problem I found with it is that in season two, they enlisted a new actor who is rather crass, and unfortunately, it spoils a lot of the humor. Sad.

But here's a great clip!
