So, I was surfing youtube the other day, and I found this really cool video about perception and how the brain might interpret senses differently from other brains. I remember one time when I was a kid, we were at Six Flags Astroworld (now bankrupt and no longer in existence, sadly). I saw a bright green bench and suddenly wondered if "my" green was the same green as other people's green. What if, for example, that shade of green was actually orange to someone else, but they learned it as green? The only reason we can communicate colors is not because we see the same exact colors, but because we coordinated certain colors with one another's perceptions. I remember trying to explain it to my mom at the time, but I couldn't make sense of it to her, and I eventually gave up on it.
I showed this video to Kyle, and he had the exact same realization happen to him at one point. When he was on his mission, he tried to explain his epiphany to his companion with no success. Unfortunately for him, his companion was colorblind and took offense at what he was trying to say, and so Kyle gave up on it and dropped the subject.
I doubt I was able to explain myself very well, but this guy has done a marvelous job of it! (He also references to a blind guy's channel, and that also turned out to be very cool.)

I've had these questions and others for the past 20 years. One question I want answered are if Adam and Eve have belly buttons. And what really came first, the chicken or the egg? I think that all of us normal vision people have a similar sense of color, maybe with a slight variation, because the color blue is a calming color for everyone. If the color blue would be blue for one person and neon orange for another, some people would react differently when walking into a room painted blue.
Cool! Before he said "This is Theory of Mind," I said "Theory of Mind!!" Ha ha! ComD makes me smart. Thanks for that awesome insight.
Very thought-provoking! I love talks like this - Brandon has introduced me to Ted Talks, which I love to watch!
