Ok, so no roses, but I did get chocolate! And I totally did no work to earn it!
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
This is my beautiful mother. I think this photo is so characteristic of her, especially given the setting. Not only is she in love with rocks and the study of their history (she was a geology major), but she also has a great appreciation for nature. She loves gardening, which in Texas is a very difficult feat, and she loves the desert. In fact, the number one place she wants to go when she and Dad retire is to Colorado. Or New Mexico. It changes every time I ask, although they are consistently desert states.
My favorite memory of Mom when I was a child was lying in her lap and listening to her stomach. Sometimes I would pretend she was pregnant and get excited, then say that she needed to get to the hospital immediately so that I could have a baby brother. It never happened. I also enjoyed very much sitting next to her in bed and reading along with whatever book she was reading at the time. Granted, back then, the books she read didn't interest me much, but I liked sitting next to her and pretend that I understood what I was reading.
I love you, Mom!
Now, for whoever reads this blog, listen to this wonderful talk by Richard G. Scott, if you hadn't listened to it again since conference. His recounting his memories for his wife were so poignant and so infused with the love he has for her, you couldn't help but be touched by his sincerity.
Happy Mother's Day!
